RAMEYS SIGNATURE?

Is that Ramey’s signature on the memo? We may have identified it using the latest methods!

If that is really Ramey’s signature, then this could, for example, have been a prepared telegram for sending to news agencies. The use of capital letters suggests it was a telegram. But other military matters were also written in capital letters. Contradictory statements, including those from the photographer James Bond Johnson, who took the photos at the press conference with the presented weather balloon, have led to the current uncertainty about who actually wrote this memo that Ramey was holding. On one hand, it could have been brought by Johnson himself from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newsroom, as he once claimed. On the other hand, it could also be of military origin.

Johnson gave several answers. At one point, he said it was the telegram printout from the AP wire that he had taken with him and handed directly to Ramey before taking the photos. Ramey had read the memo with interest. If this is true, then the memo was not of military origin but came through the news channels. Later, Johnson claimed that it wasn’t the memo he brought but a document that was lying on Ramey’s desk. Before taking the photos, he handed Ramey the document to help him pose better. If this is true, then it would indeed be a military document that Ramey is holding in the photos.

Where is this newly discovered signature located on the memo? Let’s take a look:

As you can see, this suspiciously looks like a signature, or is it a stamp, or something else? If it is a signature, then it was written with some kind of pencil. A ballpoint pen would have been more clearly visible. The pencil might have been used because Ramey possibly made other notes on the memo, which, if present, will be analyzed by us in more detail. There are definitely indications of this. And of course, Ramey also liked to write with a pencil, as evidenced by a letter he signed as well.

First, we want to see if it is some kind of stamp. At first glance, one might think it is a circular stamp with text running along the outer edge. In the center, there appears to be a P with a dot (P.) or (R).:

Or is there an arrow visible at the edge?

Realistically speaking, it is neither. It’s not a stamp, nor is it an arrow. For a stamp, this would look too unprofessional. The (P.) or (R) would certainly not look handwritten. Stamps would look more like this:

But what would it look like if it were actually a signature, one written in pencil? Throughout his career, Ramey had several ways of signing. Essentially, his style is recognizable. He signed with both a ballpoint pen and a pencil.

1: This is a signature from October 1953 by Roger Ramey (DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE, HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, WASHINGTON 25, D.C.), either in ballpoint pen or ink:

2: This is a signature from April 1947 by Roger Ramey (HEADQUARTERS EIGHTH AIR FORCE OFFICE OF THE COMMANDING GENERAL, FORT WORTH, TEXAS), the same year as the Roswell incident. Therefore, this signature should be the most similar to the one on the memo:

3: This is a signature from 1953 by Roger Ramey. What’s notable here is that the style deviates only slightly from earlier years. Additionally, the surname written in pencil is very similar to the signature on the memo.:

Also very interesting is the ‘R’ in ‘Ramey.’ In the letter, for example, he often reinforced the left side of the ‘R’ when writing with a pencil. The left side of the ‘R’ on the memo also appears stronger. Please also note the higher baseline at the bottom of the “R“. As seen in the red signature, it also appears on the memo as if the baseline at the bottom of the “R” is higher.

Of course, it could also just be a coincidence and a fluctuation that the signature fits so well. However, the possible match is still astonishing.

It is also possible that we can partially see initials under the signature, which may have also been handwritten. However, this requires further investigation. We will definitely keep at it and are already working on multiple parts of the memo.

If it is indeed Ramey’s signature and the memo was indeed brought by the photographer from the newsroom, then it would present yet another mystery. For why would he sign the memo if it didn’t originate from him? And there also seem to be additional notes on it.

Possible explanation: The memo doesn’t necessarily have to have been written by Ramey himself; he could have just approved it with his signature. For more information on this, please read the article:

>>>The Missing U<<<

Since September 8, 2024, we have advanced our analysis of the Ramey Memo to the point where we can say with certainty what kind of origin the memo has. More on this will be coming soon.

The Ramey Memo

The original document no longer exists. However, several photos were taken during the press conference, showing RAMEY with this memo. Unfortunately, it is mostly obscured. Yet in one picture, the front side is visible. Due to the image quality of cameras at the time, the small portion where the memo is visible, the angle, shadows, and poor letter quality, almost nothing is legible. There have been many attempts to make the memo readable again. So far, there is no satisfactory result. We aim to use the latest techniques and methods to solve the mystery, at least to be able to read what is on the MEMO.
